Peer Review #1

Peer Review for Andrew’s Blog post.

I really enjoy the idea you mention Andrew, that Bellear is trying to emphasise the notion of isolation through her language and word choice, such as the uncommon term “uncloaked”. It garners a specific effect on the reader of which you delve into continuing to explain how not only is it isolation but also removal of stereo types and or the European societal conformity placed on indigenous people. The explanation of the metaphor for removing Reebocks, thus removing prejudice is a powerful one. Moreover, I think it is important to link how since removing the Reebocks she is more connected to who she is and the Earth around her. For example, “her feet hit the Earth” and then she understands that “it is okay to cry” furthering the importance of indigenous people and Country, but also through this how she can return to her roots and effectively navigate this conflict.

Urbanised Reebocks
are they really blending in?
