Taniela’s Blog on Patrick White’s “Prodigal Son”
Awesome Blog Taniela! You address White’s language and meaning in an intellectual and personal way which I find very interesting.
You delved into the existential angst that overpowers us when we read White’s “Prodigal Son”, your review of this is interesting and garners empathy. Moreover, through utilising the modernist mantra to indulge in the little things in life, to not only embrace their beauty but will help an individuals journey to find truth, thus relieving this existential anxiety. Your reflection upon the media and the fast paced nature of this material metropolitan world we endure is thoughtful and highlights the insecurities individuals may face due to the lack of understanding of personal interiors. I think the media influences societal values, rather than the media being the problem, as, through the power of others people are encouraged to ridicule and engage in the fashionable, whether its is beneficial in the long term or not.
Your writing would benefit from more paragraph structure and perhaps shorter sentences to assist stronger syntax; your ideas are complex and that is why one must be meticulous in extending upon them. Shorter sentences works for me!
