You have effectively explained how Du Bois identified the colour line. Your explanation is comprehensive, however, I would love to hear about whether you think the issues of the “colour line” are still present today?
In the context of American western society today, there are still issues regarding racism and mistreatment for African Americans, as well as ongoing prejudices and preconceived ideas. However, the introduction of media has decreased the impact of literature such as Du Bois’s stories. The issues raised by writers in such eloquent and creative ways, has the capacity to engage more audiences and more parts of the audiences brain. By garnering influential perspectives on this ongoing issue, can it create more support and thus potentially fix the colour line issue? How has the depletion of art’s influence effected the eradication of racism in America?
